I recorded three albums in Los Angeles using the project name, Confessions Of A Corn Silo. This was the first one. Years later, for simplicity's sake, I've listed them on streaming sites under my personal name, Matt Reischling. I've kept the original project name on the album cover as a nod to what it once was. Re: the album.....

I recorded this with my great friend, Don Gallardo, in his apartment in Hollywood near the entrance of Runyan Canyon circa 2007. We'd take breaks in the canyon with Don's then-dog, Jasper, aka 'lil buddy,' as aspiring entertainment people jogged enthusiastically past us with minimal clothes on. We spent most of our time laughing, joking, and drinking wine. They were good days.

The songs were written on the grass at Echo Park Lake as I channeled my observations about chaotic LA and fused them with personal themes like the search for love and the fleeting nature of life, among other things. I was living close to broke in those days so a lot of time was spent outside watching all kinds of human behavior and sometimes, I felt like I could even recognize patterns in peoples movements, which shaped how I view reality. I also wrote about salvaging broken relationships, the future of humanity, the thrills of hedonism, the futility of money, etc. The songs covered a lot of territory, but in simple, whimsical ways.

As time passes, I look back at this album as the most concentrated version of who I am, even though it's a younger me. I say that because, when writing/recording this, I was at my most free as a human. Tied to nothing. Open to everything. Completely comfortable with being vulnerable in what I was writing, which is something I continue to strive for to this day. That's it. I hope you dig the Pink! -Matt
